CLUB INFORMATION
The
Club was chartered in 1977.
The
club has 26 members.
Throughout
the years our Inner Wheel club has raised funds to support local charities and
organisations. In 2008/9 we raised £1000 for Northamptonshire Young
Carers and donated funds to
This year our efforts are
concentrated on raising funds for
Hospice @ Home, which operates from within Cynthia Spencer Hospice, and is a new service, funded by Northamptonshire Teaching Primary Care Trust.
The service was first
started in July 2004 with the aim of caring for patients who wish to be in
their own home at the end stage of their illness.
The Hospice @ Home Team
work in conjunction with other professionals - Marie Curie nurses, District
Nurses and GP's although the patient's District Nurse remains responsible
for the overall care at all times.
Hospice @ Home nurses
provide care for up to 8 hours at a time in patients' own homes (operates
Countrywide). This care includes supporting the family as well as the
patient him/herself.
The Inner Wheel Club of Northampton West has been
instrumental in the setting up of a club in Romania which received its charter
in April 2003 and this has been so successful that a further 5 clubs in the
area have been formed. This is an example in fostering international
understanding and friendship of which our club is very proud.
