Guidelines for Overseas Service Organisers

This is not a comprehensive list, it is here to help and guide you through some of the projects supported by District 7.

Your District Overseas Service Chairman very much enjoys visiting Clubs and supporting overseas charity events so if you are holding an Overseas event please send her an invitation and she will be pleased to attend if she can.     If you have an event please forward her the charity leaflets which are then kept in a file for information.    This file is brought to District meetings for everyone to have a look at.

Inner Wheel only supports registered charities.   If you are not sure you can check with the Charity Commission on Tel. 087 0333 0123.   If you have access to the Internet this is a valuable source of information.   Alternatively contact your District Overseas Service Chairman to see if she has any information on file.

International Inner Wheel Charity until June 2009 is ‘Global Education for girls’ via UNICEF

Association Overseas Service Charity is BORN FREE

District 7 Overseas Service Charity is MERCY SHIPS

Cheques for the District Overseas Charity should be made payable to ‘District 7 Inner Wheel Committee with the name of the Charity on the back and sent to either the District Overseas Service Chairman or the District Treasurer (addresses in the District Directory).

Items you can collect:

Used spectacles are collected by most High Street Opticians and after grading etc are sent to projects overseas.   They do not require the cases.   Please keep a record of how many you collect.

Used stamps are collected for the Leprosy Mission which has an office in our District in Peterborough.    Please bring your trimmed stamps along to the District meeting and members of the Peterborough Club will make sure they get to the Mission without members having to incur postage costs.    Again please weigh your stamps and keep a record.

Printer cartridges can be collected and the money raised sent to Overseas Projects.    Contact Reclaim-it Ltd., Colthorp Lane, Thatcham, Berks RG19 4NP (tel 01635 876 900) email: info@reclaim-it.com
