The Inner Wheel Club of Stamford Burghley meet at
the Lady Anne’s Hotel, Stamford
on the third Thursday of each month except August, at 7.00pm. The Club received
its Charter in 1990 and currently has 35 members.
On the outskirts of Stamford stands Burghley
House which was built for William Cecil, the first Lord Burghley and Lord
Treasurer for Elizabeth I. The extensive
deer park in
which the House stands was designed by Capability Brown and accommodates the
Burghley Horse Trials every September.
Members of the club took
part in the June
2009 Race for Life at Burghley Park – on a pouring wet day. However the weather did not deter them from
enjoying themselves – as they went round the course “Singing in the Rain” –
encouraging others to join in.
