Kettering

The Inner Wheel Club of Kettering was chartered in 1935 and is the oldest club in District 7.  It meets on the second Monday of the month at 12.30pm at the Park Hotel and currently has 38 members.

Kettering is well known for Wicksteed Park which covers 100 acres.  The land was purchased by Charles Wicksteed to create a pleasure park for the local people.  Many of the traditional roundabouts have gone but in their place are more sophisticated rides.

It was a busy December for members.    On 9th they helped Rotary with their annual fund raising Christmas Concert and on 10th provided a Christmas lunch, entertainment and transport for some local residents who are visually impaired and also local senior citizens.    This again is a joint venture with Rotary.    And on 18th  we supported District chairman Ann and her charity by holding a “In the Pink” party with mulled wine, mince pies and coffee complete with pink raffle.

On January 8th 2007  we have a Hunger Lunch to raise charity money and on January 15 we will be celebrating Inner Wheel day with a lunch at the home of our President and also filling an aqua box.

On March 7th there is a Snowdrop and Hellebore Day from 10am to 4pm in the garden of one of our members at Great Harrowden, nr Wellingborough with refreshments served all day.    Homemade soup, sausage rolls, cakes etc. are included in the ticket price.

On 23 April we will be hosting the District 7 overseas tea for members in the district and our Dutch visitors.
